What Job Hunters Can Learn From Unemployed Actors

Lesson Number Three: Jobs end, get over it.

Speaking of The Hills…. Now that it’s over, do you think that the cast is sitting around reminiscing of the great times they had on set or whining that the series is over and their unemployed? Absolutely not. They are moving on with their lives. It’s the same thing with today’s economy, people are getting laid off. You can’t let that last job be the greatest job you ever had. You need to emotionally move on and find something new. Staying positive is absolutely necessary to finding your next job. Do you have any other friends that are unemployed? Try creating a support group for each other. Make a schedule together and stick to it. Monday, 9am, meet at local coffee house and search for jobs online. Tuesday 12pm go to your local Chamber of Commerce and pick up a list of networking events. Wednesday, 4pm, get together and update your resumes. If you do things as a team, you are more likely to stay motivated.

The bottom line is, you are the only one who is going to find you a job. You get out of it what you put into it. Stay positive, nothing happens overnight. If you need some motivation, look up your favorite celebrity and find out some of their first jobs. And remember, we all have to start somewhere.
