How To Get The Best Recommendations

3. Be proactive

Make sure your CV is the best it can be. If spelling isn't your strong point, persuade someone to proofread it for you. Then register with as many graduate job agencies as you can such as Guardian Jobs. Check the job sections of national newspapers as most of them have special graduate job sections. Do some online research to find companies who have graduate programmes and send your CV along with a speculative covering letter asking to be considered for any current or future job opportunities.

4. Network

Talk to your friends, family and neighbours about the sort of work you're looking for. Ask them if they can find out if their own employers have graduate programmes. Think about all the social sites you're registered on, and make them work for you.
